Free boiler grants by area
ECO4 is open to eligible households in England, Scotland and Wales, but not Northern Ireland. Find your town or city below, or check if your home qualifies.
For official figures on ECO measures installed in each council area, see ECO measures by council.
How help differs across the UK
ECO4 works the same way in England, Scotland and Wales: it is set by government, regulated by Ofgem and paid for by the larger energy suppliers, and it ends on 31 December 2026. You qualify through a means-tested benefit or through your council's LA Flex route, and the home usually needs an EPC rating of D to G. What sits alongside ECO4 depends on the nation.
- England: councils run the Warm Homes: Local Grant for low-income households, so the help on offer can change from one council to the next.
- Scotland: Warmer Homes Scotland, through Home Energy Scotland, can fund heating and insulation.
- Wales: the Nest scheme, through GOV.WALES, can fund heating and insulation.
- Northern Ireland: there is no ECO4. The Housing Executive's Affordable Warmth Scheme is the main help.
Each town guide below covers the council's LA Flex position and the official ECO figures for that area.
